Students from Assam meet Rijiju in Delhi

A group of students from Assam, on a National Integration
Tour, met Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju here on Thursday, an
official said.

Eighteen students from Haflong district of Assam are
visiting the national capital and Agra between November 21-30. The National
Integration Tour is being organised by the 43rd Assam Rifles, an official
release said.

“The National Integration Tour is a good initiative
taken by the Assam Rifles since this is the first visit outside by the state
for all these students,” Rijiju said while interacting with the visiting
students.

Informing students about the role played by Assam Rifles,
Rijiju said, “Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in the country
and it not only provides a safe and secure environment in the North-East Region
(NER) but also renders social service.”

The Union government lays special focus on the development
of infrastructure in the NER, he added.

The tour is aimed at integrating the students with the
nation and promoting the concept of unity in diversity. The students will visit
Red Fort, Rajghat, India Gate, National Museum and Pragati Maidan and ride on
Delhi Metro.
