Matt Damon, Ben Affleck to produce global water crisis film

Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are teaming up to produce a movie ‘Thirst’, which is described as a multi-layered story set against the backdrop of the global water crisis.

The new project will air on HBO and expand Damon and Affleck’s relationship with the channel, where they executive produce a revival of their documentary filmmaking series ‘Project Greenlight’, reported Deadline.

‘Thirst’ is written by Charles Leavitt (‘Blood Diamond’) and directed by Elliott Lester (‘Nightingale’).

The two stars will serve as exec producers alongside Elliott, Josh Weinstock, Jennifer Todd and Drew Vinton while Charles and Margaret Chernin will co-executive produce.

"We are thrilled to be working with HBO on this project; we cannot think of a better partner to handle this type of film. Both Elliott and Chuck are creative forces who bring an extraordinary vision to the material and we are very excited to be a part of it," Damon, 44, and Affleck, 43, said in a joint statement.

"We are extremely pleased to continue our collaboration with Matt and Ben. As two of today’s most gifted filmmakers, they are once again using their cinematic talents to bring awareness to this pressing global issue," HBO programming president Michael Lombardo added.
