Recreating music

They used technology creatively to recompose this song without actually meeting the children in person. By means of technology and the love for music, the band took the wonderful initiative of bringing music buffers on a single, virtual platform and created awareness for the war sufferers. The new adaptation of ‘Heal the World’ is a dedication to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. ‘Heal the world’ is a song dedicated to children living in countries facing wars from terrorism. The lyrics reflected the grievances that children suffer due to such conflicts and the way it hampers their growth and well being.

Education seminar

Brain Gym Academy, an initiative of Milantirtha Agro Projects Limited, conducted a seminar at Sarat Sadan on 21 August 2016.  Brain Gym integrates an international concept from Japan with scientifically proven technology to gift children with a genius make over in all aspect. The agenda of the seminar was to discuss problem of mutual interest relating to children’s mental development. Arup Roy, Minister of West Bengal Co-operation graced the occasion as the chief guest in presence of  Sujoy Chakraborty, child specialist, Howrah, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Minister of West Bengal sports, N.K Samui Homeopathy doctor, D.P Singh, Commissioner of Police, Howrah and Tapas Biswas, District Inspector of Education, Howrah. The goal was to create a loving and intelligent society with emotional and economical stability, to emphasise on mind control and conquer the body. For an educational system creating genius minds with its scientifically proven methods, Mid Brain activation technology integrates an international concept from Japan. With this technology and training programme children tends to become superfast, they become confident they are sure of what they do and can also take decision by themselves.

Youth outreach plan

To accelerate the pace of Skill Development in Jammu and Kashmir, Tata Trusts joined hands with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) on 24 August for a study to be undertaken by Dalberg Global Development Advisors. It aimed at understanding the aspirations of the youth from the state and identifying the key challenges and interventions that can create a better impact by way of employment opportunities with corporates. 

The study would look at the aspirations of the youth and shall engage large corporates to explore possibilities of hiring them and finalise job roles in line with the aspirations of the youth. The graduates, post-graduates and engineering diploma candidates exhibited their professional abilities while working in companies across India under the Udaan programme of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India run by NSDC in collaboration with several corporates. It has evaluated the opportunities and is looking at scaling up the programme and revisiting the gaps so that more youth can get better careers and self-employment opportunities. 

The youth outreach plan, corporate engagement model, skilling value-chain alignment and a rollout plan would all be addressed as a part of this critical intervention.

Book donation drive 

Alibaba Group in association with Crossword and Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust announced the launch of ‘Mission Million Books’, pan-India initiative on18 August. It invited Indian citizens to donate textbooks and educational material for the benefit of the underprivileged.  The initiative aimed at providing the underserved with access to quality educational materials for their growth and advancement. 

It will work with its partners to solicit donations, collect and deliver textbooks to schools and colleges across India and will open doors for numerous educational institutions to enhance the quality of academic material provided to their students. Collected material will be distributed to more than 2,500 educational institutions across India. 

The plan also aims to empower youth to realise their full potential and have access to quality education. Some of the project’s associate partners include Shoppers Stop, HyperCity, mGage India and Kotak Mahindra Bank. In addition to mobilising and coordinating with all partners to prepare for the Mission Million Books project, they will also donate 50,000 books to the campaign while Alibaba.com and UC Web will provide online marketing support to maximise the impact. 

Donations can be made between 18 August- 16 September at 1,300 branches of Kotak Mahindra Bank, as well as Shoppers Stop, HyperCity, and Crossword stores across major cities in India. For further details call 1800-103-7598

Spirit of entrepreneurship

Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIM) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore organised the two-day i5 summit on 20-21 August. The programme aimed to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the brightest minds of our country and the event intends to support young entrepreneurs by connecting them with investors and mentors to take their ideas to the next level. Panel discussions and workshops like ‘Get Funded’ taught students to raise an amount of money by selling a minority stake of their start up. They were specially designed to hone people’s business skills besides giving them a glimpse of the start-up world. They seek to leave the participants inspired and motivated. A concept of ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ held for industry workers and participants taught to connect and network in a campus atmosphere. The TATA Trust committed a handsome funding to turn the best social sector venture into reality. Bibop Gresta, COO, Hyperloop was announced as the key note speaker of the session.
