Parrikar hints at Modi’s pre-New Year address
While the nation continues to speculate over what Prime Minister Narendra Modi would say in his New Year's Eve speech,…
The “temporary discomfort” caused due to
the demonetisation of high denomination currency notes will be over within
“five to seven” days by when new currency notes will flow into the
system, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Saturday.
“2,000 rupee notes won’t work every where, I
understand. It has been more than 10 days since the decision was taken and the
queues have abated. Slowly, over the next five to seven days, people will get
new notes and currency, which will put an end to this temporary discomfort,”
Parrikar told a pre-poll rally in Cuncolim, located around 50 km from Panaji.
“To those who have stacked ill-gotten money
from political corruption, we have shown guts to turn the same money into
ashes. Such is the strength our Prime Minister has shown,” Parrikar said.
