India, UAE to fight cyber crime together

To counter cyber crimes and enhance technical collaboration, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was on Thursday approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The agreement on ‘technical cooperation in cyber space and combating cyber crime’ was signed in February and it was agreed that the two countries will coordinate and exchange information in relation with cyber crime.

With regards to matters pertaining to state security, terrorism and crimes related to unconventional weapons, the nodal agency of India will be the Home Ministry while that of UAE will be the Directorate General of Criminal Security, Ministry of Interior and the State Security Department.

“The enhancement of technical cooperation between India and UAE in cyber space and combating cyber-crime comes in the wake of the serious threat of cyber-crime on the security, interest and safety of the people,” the government said.
