PM’s demonetization, divides country to benefit corporate class: Rahul

Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, All India Congress Committee Vice President Rahul Gandhi said demonetisation move has created a divide in the country, benefiting a handful of corporate class.

Addressing a public rally at Dharamsala, Rahul said that the anti-poor move has affected 94 % of the common man while benefitting the remaining 6 % which involves 50 rich families.

The public rally was organized to mark the completion of four years of Congress government in the state.

Demonetisation is a firebomb on the country’s cash economy, the poor, labourers and farmers he said, adding that in the last two and half years tenure, Modi has harassed the poor.

He said that the cashless economy cannot be forced upon the poor people of the country, who toil hard and are paid wages in cash.

Drawing a parallel with the Himachali cap, he was donning, gifted by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, he said this cap akin to 'HAT' symbolizing – Horticulture, Agriculture and Tourism , is the symbol of strength of Himchal Pradesh.

“Modiji, aap ne Himachal Pradesh ki HAT utaar di (Modiji, you have removed the HAT of Himachal Pradesh). Notebandi ne Himachal Paradesh ki horticulture, agriculture and Tourism par jabardast chot pounchai hai(Demonetization has severely affected horticulture, agriculture and tourism of Himachal)” he said taking a dig at Modi.

Demonetization has broken the backbone of the state affecting Tourism industry in state tourist destinations like Dharamsala , Shimla.

Rahul said that on questions raised by him on demonetization, Modi always mocks at him, however he is not bothered as he just demands an answer.

He called upon the party workers to take to the masses about the demonetisation move, it reality and also that Modi has been shirking from giving any suitable reply to questions on demonetisation.
