Punjab Cong to take SYL battle to worst-hit area with Sunday rally

Escalating its anti-SYL campaign to a new high, the Punjab Congress is all set to storm the original turf of the link canal in Abohar with a massive rally on Sunday.
The party will organise its mega protest rally on the SYL issue at Khuian Sarwar village on the Abohar-Ganganagar main highway, some 15 kms. from Abohar, from 10.30 am onwards. Khuian Sarwar, a village in Fazilka district and also a block (sub-tehsil) within the Abohar tehsil, is the area that will be the worst affected if the Supreme Court’s decision on SYL is implemented.
The entire party leadership will join thousands of Congress workers to protest against the Badal govt’s failure to protect the interests of the people of Punjab in the Supreme Court, where the state received a major setback earlier this week following the apex court’s verdict in favour of neighbouring Haryana state.

According to Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) vice president Sunil Jakhar, Congress leaders and workers from across the state, joined by several central party leaders, will participate in the rally. State party president Captain Amarinder Singh will lead the show of strength against the Akali mishandling of the SYL case, he added.
