Rajya Sabha again adjourned amid chaos

The Rajya Sabha was again disrupted and adjourned for half an hour on Thursday soon after it met at noon.
The House was earlier adjourned till 12 pm amid uproar over allegations and counter allegations of corruption by the opposition and government MPs.
As the Rajya Sabha reassembled at 12 pm, members of the opposition and the government started raising slogans against each other.
Chairman M Hamid Ansari requested the agitated members to not to create a noise but they did not listen to him and he adjourned the House for 30 minutes – till 12.30 pm – amid chaos.
Earlier at 11 am, soon after the House met for the day’s business, the Chair allowed Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad to speak but the MPs from the treasury benches did not allow him to say anything.
“This should also go on record that in both the Houses it is the ruling party that is not allowing any work,” Azad said, adding that it was happening for the “first time in the history of India”.
Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien kept on requesting the protesting members to maintain peace but his pleas went unheard.
“Why should both sides create problem? I don’t know,” he said and adjourned the House till 12 pm.
The winter session of Parliament, which started on November 16 but got washed away in protests against the central government’s demonetisation decision, will conclude on Friday.
