Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said an Army recruitment sub-centre will be opened in Rewari to increase employment opportunities for youths and Rapid Action Force (RAF) battalion will be deployed in Mewat to ensure communal harmony in the region.

Addressing 'Shaheed Samman Rally' organised by Union Minister of State for Urban Housing, Planning and Poverty Alleviation Rao Inderjit Singh, at local HUDA grounds here, Singh said countrymen should contribute to make a strong, proud and independent India.

The speakers paid rich tributes to the martyrs right from the freedom struggle to present times, including Rao Raja Tula Ram and the 5,000 martyrs who laid their lives on November 16, 1857 at village Nasirpur, near Narnaul in Mahendergarh district.

Stressing that owing to the sacrifice of martyrs, India got independence politically in 1947 but social and economic freedom remained dreams to be attained, Rajnath said, the present BJP government at the Centre was making all efforts to achieve both the freedoms, for which the people will have to shun their differences on grounds of religion, caste, untouchability or region.

Economic freedom can be achieved by providing employment opportunities to unemployed youth, for which the government has started number of programme to make the youth “able”, he said.

The Union Home minister said the gap of economic disparity should be minimised, for which the government has demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

“This could cause problems for the people for some time, may be for a month, but it will be helpful in bringing purity (Pavitrata) in politics,” he said.

Criticising the practice of distribution of money and liquor during elections, Singh said “this practice should go and if any political party collected donations, it should also be accounted for.”

“We are here to provide the type of governance, the people want. There will be no place for corruption. Government is working on it and this will have effect on the working of government machinery, they will also refrain from adopting corrupt practices.”

He said real India lives in villages and the country could not progress till our farmers progress.

The government introduced Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna so that loss caused to farmers due to natural calamities can be reimbursed, he added.

Rajnath said the government was working with an aim to double the income of farmers by 2022.

At the same time, he said production of Urea and DAP fertilisers would be increased and the prices of these could be lowered.

Attacking Pakistan he said that the Heads of neighbouring countries were invited in the oath taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narender Modi only to give a message that we believe in not only shaking hands but also to want meeting of hearts because Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to say that friends may leave but neighbours remain.

“so we should have cordial relations with neighborers, he said, adding that despite our cordial gesture, our neighbour (Pakistan) resorted to terrorism, which is weapon of the cowards.

The incidents of naxalism and terrorism have decreased drastically in the country in last two years, Singh asserted.

Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said in the last Lok Sabha election, the situation started favouring BJP after Narendra Modi addressed an ex-servicemen rally here two days before his nomination as the Prime Ministerial candidate.

“The people of south Haryana have contributed a lot in the formation of BJP government at the Centre and state. BJP is indebted,” he said.

The party has not forgotten that support and will be able to repay a part of the debt if it can get the Sutlej-Yamuna-Link canal waters to this region, the Chief Minister said.

“After the formation of BJP government, sincere efforts were made and good lawyers were engaged in the SYL case,” Khattar claimed.

For the benefit of farmers in this region lift irrigation system has been revived at a cost of Rs 143 crore, he said.

“Additionally, a separate Rs 2,200 crore scheme has been prepared for taking Yamuna river's water up to the tail-end of south Haryana,” he said, adding “Presently, out of our share of 22,000 cusec of water we fetch around 15,000 cusec.”

The Chief Minister said, “A medical college will be set up in each district of the state.”

“I along with Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh have sought the intervention of the Union Home Minister for opening a branch of AIIMS at Manethi village in Rewari district,” Khattar said, adding he has written letters in this regard to the Centre.

Khattar also suggested an extension branch of the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment in the region and assured, “Possibilities will be discussed with Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.”
