3 youths assaulted for participating in anti-govt protest

In a shocking case of police brutality, three youths were assaulted for protesting in a protest against the state government in Senapati district of Manipur.

The three boys were among 200 youth of Senapati District who joined the protest at Karong against the government’s failure to announce the result of police constables recruitment exam.

The victims were taken to the police station at district headquarter, where they were allegedly thrashed by  Suprintendent of Police Kabib K, a release said.

On hearing the news, brother of one of the three youths, who is an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel, rushed to the station to meet his brother. He too was beaten up brutally by the SP, the sources added.

The Joint Action Committee on August 17 held a protest against Chief Minister Ibobi Singh for failing his assurance to declare the result of the Manipur Police constable recruitment, and demanded immediate declaration of the result.
