Two of India’s main troopers are back on chase as Cheteshwar Pujara (51*) and Virat Kohli (40*) put an unbeaten 75-run knock to take India at 148/2 till tea, trailing England by 135 runs at the second Test at the PCA Stadium on Sunday.
The second session saw India scoring 84 runs in 29 overs, losing a single wicket in shape of Parthiv Patel (42). Wicketkeeper batsman Patel had started briskly for India as his early heroics led India to a subtle position well ahead of lunch.
For England, leg-spinner Adil Rashid and medium-pacer Ben Stokes proved to be fruitful in the day so far, as they dismissed Murali Vijay (12) and Patel respectively.
Both Pujara and skipper Kohli are known to be India’s leading Test batsmen and they will surely look to strengthen their stand further when the play resumes at Mohali.
