Hitting the third spot, Kohli aims to rule world cricket

In the backdrop of an illustrious eight-wicket win over England at Mohali, Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli celebrated his career-best ranking as his name rose to the third spot in the ICC Test rankings on Wednesday.
India’s chief protagonist in all three formats, Kohli was far from this fame in Test cricket for a long time.
Ranked 15th in the start of the ongoing Test series, Kohli rose miraculously, scoring 405 runs from three Test matches so far.
India are currently the top-ranked Test team and amid this, Kohli will surely look to top Test batsman's rankings, surpassing second-ranked Joe Root and the leader Steve Smith.
The 28-year-old already leads the T20I rankings and placed second in the ODI rankings. Following his Test success now, Kohli looks set to rule the world cricket in all three formats.
Besides Kohli, Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara entered into top-ten after scoring 338 runs from past three Test matches of the series.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got a double delight after Mohali win as he topped both Test bowler’s rankings as well as Test all-rounders' rankings.
Ashwin's partner-in-crime Ravindra Jadeja also featured in top-ten of both Test bowlers' and all-rounders' rankings, being placed at seventh in the first and fourth in the later.
Currently, India lead the five-match Test series by 2-0 and will host England for the fourth Test at Mumbai, starting December 8.
