Sharad Pawar resigns as MCA president

Former BCCI and ICC president Sharad Pawar on Saturday stepped down from the post of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president, supporting the rule of age-cap of 70 years suggested by the Lodha Committee.
Pawar, 76, said in a resignation letter to the MCA, “The Supreme Court has taken a decision that officials above 70 years of age should not remain in cricket bodies. This decision is applicable to me. That is why I am resigning from the position of MCA president and I request you (secretary) to accept it.”
According to MCA Joint Secretary PV Shetty, the political stalwart submitted his resignation at the meeting of the MCA management committee.
However, the MCA managing committee is yet to make any further decision on the matter.
Pawar first served as the BCCI president from 2005-2008 and went on to become the president of International Cricket Council from 2010-2012. He was re-elected as the MCA president in June 2015 for the third time.
