Every day, en route to the office via Alipore Road, a colleague sees a large notice attached to the front of an old derelict-looking building that reads somewhat like this: “This building is in utter dilapidated condition and has been declared dangerously unsafe”. And just beyond is the large board with the name of a Montessori School that is housed in that same building!
A place declared unsafe and dangerous by the authorities is being used as a nursery for tiny tots. Do their heedless parents even bother to read the notice that is put up so openly right in the front? Will they even try to take any action? Or is sending one&’s child to a nursery, no matter how “dangerous”, more important than the little one&’s safety ?
