Theatre awards

The Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards is inviting entries for this year&’s edition of a weeklong festival. Every year Meta confers awards across 13 categories that celebrate various aspects of theatre groups from across the country in what has come to be a most prestigious and coveted platform. Winners also get handsome prize money across various categories. The 10th  Meta festival is scheduled to start from 21 to 26 March at New Delhi&’s LTG and Kamani Auditoriums along with a Gala Awards Night on 27 March at the Taj Mahal Hotel in the capital.
The deadline for the entries has been extended till midnight of 4 February, to give more time for participants to submit their entries. The submissions must be sent in the form of recorded DVDs on or before 4 February.  
The entries can also be shared online followed by sending in recorded DVDs of the play as hard copies via post or by logging on to http://metawards.com/v1/entry-form/.
 

Speak better
The Oxford University Press has announced the publication of its ninth edition of the Oxford Advanced Learner&’s Dictionary. The new edition is much more than an A-Z dictionary as it is the ultimate speaking and writing tool. It contains global research, involving 14,000 teachers and students, and as a result includes the new iSpeaker and Speaking Tutor, designed specifically to provide the help learners of English need to become effective communicators.

 

“Our research shows that students are struggling with pronunciation and worry about having to give presentations and speaking in exams. The new tools will support students in all these aspects of learning and are designed to develop good speaking and communication skills,” said Patrick White, head of dictionaries in the English Language Teaching Division, Oxford University Press.

For entrepreneurs 
The UK&’s Southampton Business School University is inviting applications for its Master&’s of Science in global enterprise and entrepreneurship programme. The one-year programme educates students in a way that they can inculcate innovation and creativity in an organisation whilst also enriching their knowledge. The university is also offering scholarships of £3,000 and £5,000 to applicants who have been offered a place in one of the schools. 

These scholarships will be in the form of tuition fee reduction. To qualify, applicants must have achieved a first class in their Bachelor&’s degree. Any student holding a first degree from a wide range of subjects, the equivalent of a first or upper second classification from a UK university is eligible to apply. In addition, applicants must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. The annual course fee for the course is £16,250. The last date for applications is 15 February.
