‘Music is dead’

Music has officially died, according to Sinead O’Connor. The outspoken musician has called for a boycott of Rolling Stone magazine after it placed Kim Kardashian on its front cover. O’Connor wrote on her facebook page, “What is this c*** doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it?

“Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be f****** horrified. #BoycottRollingStone #AGenerationIsBeingGroomedAndSilenced.”

O’Connor&’s fans were largely in agreement, with Charlie Gipson writing on her Facebook page, “Amazing… fake tits, money and no talent get you on the cover of the Rolling Stone! Someone should write a song about that…”

But Angela D Vecchio said music had already died. “Bob Dylan released any album which could only be bought at Starbucks. I don’t think Bob Dylan would be as horrified as you think. Rolling Stone is about selling magazines.”

O’Connor replied to her fan, “Key words here are ‘released an album.’”

The Nothing Compares 2 You singer is no stranger to speaking publicly about her opposition to the state of modern music. In 2013, she wrote three open letters to Miley Cyrus following the release of her single, Wrecking Ball, claiming the music industry was taking advantage of the young singer. “The music business doesn’t give a s*** about you, or any of us,” she wrote. “They will prostitute you for all you are worth, and cleverly make you think it&’s what you wanted… Don’t be under any illusions… All of them want you because they’re making money off your youth and beauty.” (The independent)

Splitsville

MOVIE/MARTIAL arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme is looking to make a “Damme” nice profit on the sale of his home. Mr Muscles From Brussels has listed his three-storey home on the Grand Canal in Los Angeles’ Marina del Rey area for $9,999,000. He paid $6 million for the newly built six-bedroom, 11-bathroom home in 2012 — which, coincidentally, is the same year he co-starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables 2.

Friends at the real estate site Curbed LA deem his 7,600-square-foot home “totally bonkers”. From the listing, it&’s learnt that Cvan Damme enjoys religious art, which include a wall sculpture of a crucified Jesus, a Buddha statue watching over the dining room, a bust presiding over a soaking tub (next to a fireplace), and a wine cellar with an elaborate trompe l’oeil wall mural that looks as if wine casks stretch out into the indefinable distance. Small screen debut

Bollywood actress Shamita Shetty, who is a participant on celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, feels she has not got the proper opportunity to show her skills on screen. The 36-year-old, however, has special onscreen dance performances to her credit like “Sharara Sharara” from Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and “Chori Pe Chori” from Saathiya.

“There is lot more to me but I haven’t really expressed that on screen. I am very shy that way. I think I did not have that opportunity to show my dancing on screen,” Shetty said.

“But when I am on my way with friends and all, people have seen me chilling differently. People will see a different side of me,” the Mohabbatein actress said.
