Himachal launches mobile app for sanitation grievance redressal

In an effort to address garbage and sanitation issues in Himachal Pradesh, the state government on Tuesday launched a mobile app for sanitation grievance redressal in the city.

“The app would help in catering to sanitation and garbage issues faced by the people in their surrounding areas,” state Chief Secretary VC Pharka said while launching the app – Citizen Reposting and Management Tool (CRMAT).

“Through the CRMAT, any common person can take a picture of the litter lying in their area and upload the picture at the online portal,” Pharka said.

The CRMAT is developed by Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Development Authority at Himachal Pradesh.

Pharka said that “the main characteristics of the app were that it provides the exact location of the area where the picture has been taken and also shows the latitude and longitude of the area along with the name of the village or locality”.

“The app is easily available at Google playstore and can be downloaded in any smart phone,” Pharka said, adding that “any person who witnesses any sanitation issue in their surrounding can take a picture and upload the picture taken on the app.  On receiving any grievance, the app would automatically send a message to the concerned officer”.

“The portal provides an easy platform for grievances against the garbage and sanitation related issues. The app would not only cater to sanitation and garbage related issues but to issues relating to damaged roads and other problems as well,” he said.
