Chaos prevail in Bolangir with traffic disrupted for over an hour on as thousands of people flocked the city road to join a demonstration organised by farmers of Kantabanji constituency who were protesting against apathy of government toward farming community.
The demonstration which was lead by former Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja were protesting against the failure of government in distributing crop insurance money and the promised bonus declared in 2015.
Several senior Congress leaders including district Congress president Bhagaban Bagarti. They castigated the government on several other issues like collapse of the PDS system, large scale bungling in NFSA ration card selection etc.

Saluja also raked up the issue of the state government planning to hand over Gandhamardan hills to industrialists for mining purposes and warned of a ‘fight to finish’ if such a step is taken.
